The puffin said........

is this my chair?

You might ask what puffins and chairs have got to do with each other?
Well, nothing except that they both appear on this postcard!

The other side of this postcard looks like this......I picked it up in Suffolk thinking it would go in my "out and about" journal but it never made it there......it was lurking on my desk and ended up being used as a mask when making this piece "who killed cock robin" .....that's how it got the red and black bits

at Port Sunlight show I bought this fab puffin stamp from Crafty Individuals

then I was looking through an old book for a fun quote or set of words to fit in the speech bubble and came across this bit about chairs........it had to be!!

and keeps them in boxes

this is a follow on from my last post......
He gathers bones......and keeps them in boxes.
After I made the first shrine I had a hankering to make another, so here it is......I'm not quite as happy with this one as the last one, I think it's the pink (if you are reading this....your fault Burnice!) but it's OK, I can live with it:)

It's really hard to get a decent pic of the whole thing.....but I hope you get the idea!

Am really liking the words on the doll faces..... kinda creepy:)

and this idea I like too......saw something similar in one of the galleries I visited a while back

this doll head is a weird shape......sort of alien looking don't you think.....or is that just me!?
Oops, just realised you can see the glue....need to paint that!

Spot the skull stencil lurking in the back behind the hanging arms??

He gathers bones

I've been wanting to make some sort of shriney thing for a while now so yesterday decided the time had come!!
At Port Sunlight show on Saturday several people passed comment about my doll stuff so I thought I'd delight scare (apparently, according to most I spoke to) you with another one!

Who killed cock robin?

I said the Sparrow,
with my bow and arrow,
 I killed cock robin

I have a liking for myths, legends, old stories, fairy tales and nursery rhymes etc, so when I saw these postcards at the book fair I went to last weekend, I bought them. The colours and the woodcut look also appealed:)
They are by CAROLYN TRANT

Rather than just add them to my "out and about" journal I decided to use them and work around them echoing the colours and images in them......I worked  in an A4 journal and I'm pleased with the way them came out.
Although it's not "white space" I am happy that I managed to leave some "empty space" (well apart from a little colour) rather than needing to fill every part of the page:)

1 2 3 4 5

 More doodling!
This time the prompt was "monotone" and to make a collage of everyday items......I used car parking tickets......we have to pay to park almost everywhere these days and the tickets collect in the car...much to my husbands annoyance!
So, stuck them on the page, gessoed over them and the drew around them with an Inktense pencil.....used a paintbrush to smudge it out a little

and then doodled around the tickets with written numbers

 and with drawn numbers

We are surrounded by numbers everyday!

And finally.......I bought these A4 journals while shopping yesterday......they are by Seawhite of Brighton, have lovely paper inside and are FAB value at just £4 each......no need to spend a fortune on expensive journals!
